4th Sunday in Lent

THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

 Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

 Sunday 30th March 2014

He cares for us in all our needs

“God does not see as woman/man sees. God looks at the heart.” One of the greatest temptations of human life is to think that what we see is all there is to see, what we know is all there is to know. Faith helps us to see through the eyes of God and to discover all the wonders of life. Love helps us to know with the heart of God and to rejoice in all the goodness of life. This week in your relationships look for the wonders of your life and acknowledge the goodness of each other and of your world. This is particularly true for couples committed to life-long marriage. They can become so used to each other that they take so much for granted. They can change that this week. The same is true of parents with their children of all ages. Replace criticism with praise. And in your faith community this week grow in an awareness of the goodness of so many people who are faithful to Christ – and let them know it.

Morning Prayer, when together

Father of peace, we are joyful in your Word,

your Son Jesus Christ, who reconciles us to you.

Let us hasten towards Easter

with the eagerness of faith and love

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Father, we offer you the gift of our married love

which brings us peace and joy.

Increase our reverence for one another

and through us bring salvation to the world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Father, you enlighten all who come into the world.

Fill our hearts with the light of your gospel

that our thoughts may please you

and our love be sincere.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: In what ways do you most need your wife/husband to love you at present? How can you tell her/him this week?

For others: Think of some group who work for people with physical disabilities. How could you help them this week?
