3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus, the Light of the World

“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.” It often strikes me that heaven is going to be hell for a lot of us! Can you imagine having to be happy all the time? Most of us are not practiced in happiness. Heaven is going to be about being positive, joyful, grateful, and full of praise about everyone and everything for all eternity. The call to repentance today can be for us to change now and set out to develop all these qualities as fully as possible. These are most important to practice and develop in our marriage and family relationships. It is there especially that we can take so much for granted. And it is there also that we can claim the right to be in bad form. Set out this week to make our homes places of gladness and joy. And let that repentance flow over to how we leave the quality of life in our faith communities to others and we settle for doing the bare minimum. We are all responsible for spreading the Gospel.

Morning Prayer, when together

Almighty and ever-living God,

direct your love that is within us in our marriage,

that our efforts in the name of your Son

may bring humanity to unity and peace.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

 During the day, when apart

Lord, receive the gift of our love for one another.

Let our marriage make us holy

and bring us salvation.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

 Evening/Night Prayer together

God, all-powerful Father,

may the new life you give us increase our love

and keep us in the joy of your kingdom.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: How could you bring a smile to the face of your wife/husband this week?

For others: How could you be “a light in the darkness” for someone this week?
