2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

THE COUPLE THAT PRAYS TOGETHER STAYS TOGETHER.

 Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

 Sunday 19th January 2014

 The Lamb of God

John the Baptist said: “I am the witness that he (Jesus) is the Chosen One of God”. This is the great mission that we all have in our world so that the world may believe. And Jesus gives us the best way of witnessing to him – our love for one another. It is hard to believe that our love has so much power, that our love can transform the world in so far as we point towards Christ as our Saviour. This power is particularly invested in the love of husband and wife in the Sacrament of Marriage. The committed love of a married couple makes Christ present in the world each couple lives in. So much is at stake for every couple to grow in their love every day. This call to witness to Christ is also the task of every family and every faith community in the Church. We have a responsibility in faith to positively develop our homes and our communities in ways that others, looking at us, can come to know Christ.

 Morning Prayer, when together

Father of heaven and earth,

hear our prayers.

Show us the way to a greater love for one another

and to how our love can transform the world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

During the day, when apart

Father, may we celebrate the gift of our love

with reverence and joy.

When we proclaim our love for one another,

you continue the work of our redemption.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Evening/Night Prayer together

Lord, you have blessed us with love in our marriage.

Fill us with your Spirit

and make us one in peace and love.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord.

Questions for Action for the week

For your marriage: How can you show your love for your wife/husband in a special way this week?

For others: How could you help some Missionary Group this week?
